Susan Hobbs

Teacher of classes for English for English Speakers and English for Speakers of Other Languages

 

Susan is from Britain and grew up around the U.K. and in Belgium with Scottish parents. She studied economics and social policy at the University of Leeds and worked in the private and voluntary sector before doing an M.A. in social work at Goldsmiths, University of London. She worked in central London with the homeless mentally ill client group for 15 years.

In 2004 she moved to Basel with her husband, young son and baby daughter. As an adopted Londoner, she feels at home in multicultural Gundeli and along with her family has become Swiss.

She qualified to teach English as a foreign language in 2007 and has enjoyed teaching groups and private students aged from 4 to 84 ever since. Susan is also a qualified proofreader and Cambridge Examiner.

In her spare time, she loves playing tennis, reading, watching TV and films, skating or skiing and is attempting to master Schwiizerdüütsch.
